Ray
Lagace was born December 21, 1921 in New Hampshire. His family moved to
Long Beach when he was four where he attended St. Joseph School. He served in
the Navy during WW II, joined the.
De La Salle Christian
Brothers for a few years, and then worked for many years in the Aero Space
Industry. Ray married Dorothy in 1948. After 53 years of marriage, Dorothy died
Christmas Eve, 2001. Shortly after that Ray contacted Dignity, joined us for
Sunday Mass, and was an active member of the community until his health made it
impossible for him to make the drive down from L.A. each Sunday afternoon. Ray
was a lector at our liturgies. Ray often commented that Dignity and our
community had strengthened his faith-life and rekindled his love for the Church.
Ray Lagace died peacefully in
his sleep
at his retirement home in San Dimas
on February 11, 2009. Ray is survived by a cousin Nanette.
At his request his ashes were
scattered on the ocean and his Memorial Mass offered at Dignity/San Diego. May
he rest in peace.
In his generosity Ray bequeathed to Dignity/San Diego
$60,000.
